NetworkDefender
Most small businesses in Wisconsin have almost no cyber protection. After talking to a lot of owners about it, I don't think that's because they don't care.
While I was at UW-Madison I started interviewing small businesses around the state about how they handled cybersecurity. I focused on the smallest ones, the companies that never make the news and are getting targeted more every year.
Most of them get skipped by regular IT and security providers for being too small to bother with. Being small used to work as a kind of protection. It doesn't anymore. Attackers automate nearly everything now, so going after a hundred small companies costs them roughly what going after one large one used to.
None of those are really technology problems. Security gets built for companies that have an IT department, then sold down to companies that don't, at a price and a level of complexity that means it never gets set up properly. By the time anyone notices, whoever sold it has moved on.
So I built NetworkDefender to fit the businesses I had been talking to. We set everything up before it ships, so there is nothing to install and no consultant to hire, and the prices are on the site so you know what you are getting into before you call.
Quinton Martin joined NetworkDefender as a partner, working alongside founder Nick Mast to help build the company around a simple goal: making practical, straightforward cybersecurity accessible to small businesses.
They map to the three reasons owners gave me for having no protection.
Per-user pricing is published on the site. Nothing is quote-only, and nothing shows up on the invoice that we did not tell you about first.
Your equipment is configured and hardened here before it ships. You plug it in and it works. There is no install day to schedule and no project to manage.
We are based in Wisconsin and we answer the phone. Of the three problems owners told me about, this was the one nobody had solved.
Thirty minutes on the phone to go over what you are running and where the gaps are. It costs nothing and there is no pressure to buy.
